NIGER
Although oil-rich and regionally powerful, Niger has the lowest education level in the world today. The EDI level in Niger is at a 0.528 and they are tied for the world's lowest adult literacy rate at a mere 28.7%. The population in the country with a secondary education is at a 5.1% and the gross enrollment ratio is 1.5%. There is no civil war, minimal amounts of refugees coming into the country, and a relatively stable political and economical system compared to many other African countries. However, the education systems and situations in Niger are bleak.
